Don’t give killer cops 30 days to put together their stories!
Last Thursday, state legislatures voted overwhelmingly for HB1538, which bars public officials from releasing the name of an officer involved in a shooting until 30 days after the incident, or after an official investigation into it ends.
This would change the law in Philadelphia, which currently calls for police departments to disclose the names of officers involved in shootings within 72 hours.
We’ll convene outside of the Philadelphia Police Headquarters at 10 a.m Thursday to show we want MORE police transparency, not less! Signs will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
In the meantime:
-Check out the roll call list - if your representative voted YES, give their local office a call and tell them how you feel!
(Like these Philadelphia-area Representatives: John Taylor (R), Kevin J. Boyle (D), Michael J. Driscoll (D), Ed Neilson (D), William F. Keller (D), Maria P. Donatucci (D), Pamela A. DeLissio (D.)
-Call Governor Wolf (717-787-2500) and tell him to VETO HB1538.
We have the right to know!
