ConcertOPERA Philadelphia is hosting a fundraising performance of Die Walküre—Act I. With very little Wagner being produced by opera companies in our region—for very good reasons—this is an excellent opportunity for Philadelphia-area opera lovers to experience his amazing music…LIVE in concert!! The concert format for this fundraiser also offers a more intimate musical experience for the audience than a staged version would.
With soprano Danielle Davis as Sieglinde, heldentenor John Packard as Siegmund, and bass Ben Wager as Hunding, this fundraiser brings a cast of young singers with both international acclaim, and Philly roots. Die Walküre—Act 1 will be accompanied by COPA Artistic Director and Conductor Yoonhak Baek, who has come to America from his native South Korea specifically for this special event.
The fundraising concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the William Way LGBT Community Center, 1315 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
Come and experience the passion, heroism, and magic of this epic myth about two star-crossed lovers.
University of Pennsylvania’s Dr. Chris Pastore will give a pre-performance talk beginning at 7:30pm.
